Hi everyone! I've finally got my wet plate studio set up, and I've been doing a lot of portraits and still lifes. It's a joy to have a real storefront studio with beautiful natural light (as opposed to my basement). I'm mostly using an 11x14" Century Studio Camera with a variety of antique lenses here are few of my portraits from a wet plate demo session I did in March with Danial Afzal--another DC-based wet plate artist.

![]() John 5x7 Alumitype Dallmeyer 3A, 22sec @f/4 Another plate shot during the same demo. I really need to rig up a head brace soon, but my sitters were doing a pretty good job holding 20-24 second poses. The Dallmeyer is great, but using it with 5x7 plates means I have to have my subjects well inside the studio and a bit further from the windows. I like the perspective with a longer lens, but I think I'll have to shoot 8x10 plates or at least whole plate with the 3A if I want to get my sitters back closer to the windows. |
